Even as Republicans refuse to move forward on increasing funding to provide vital tools we need to combat the pandemic and keep ourselves healthy, they are happy to use federal dollars intended to provide relief for COVID-19 to cut taxes in the states.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, for example, has touted his tax cuts without saying that the only reason he’s able to do so is because of the money from COVID-19 relief while railing against government waste.
If DeSantis was honest, he’d promote the vaccines, tests, and treatments that allow us to fight the pandemic. Instead, he and Republicans like him continue to sow mistrust, misinformation, and downright lies about the pandemic.
