STATEMENT: Protect Our Care Congratulates Dr. Anthony Fauci As He Announces the End of His Decades-Long Career in Public Service

Washington, DC – Dr. Anthony Fauci announced that he is planning to step down from his role as President Biden’s top medical advisor and the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which he led for 38 years. In celebration of Dr. Fauci’s years of public service, Protect Our Care Chair Leslie Dach said the following:

“Dr. Anthony Fauci will go down in history as the preeminent disease expert of our time and a tireless leader through one of the darkest periods in the country’s recent history. When faced with a historic calamity, Dr. Fauci stepped up and became a steady force and advocate for common sense measures that saved countless lives during the worst of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Dr. Fauci spent his career in public service working for the health and safety of all Americans, serving seven presidential administrations and receiving bipartisan praise (and the Presidential Medal of Freedom) for his wisdom and steady hand. And when coronavirus swept the country, Dr. Fauci was a dependable and stable presence, always working for the best interest of Americans despite being unjustly attacked with baseless conspiracy theories and lies by those attempting to politicize his actions for their own gain.

“I had the honor of working with Dr. Fauci on combating the Ebola outbreak in Africa in 2014 when I was senior counselor to the Secretary of Health and Human Services. He is a true national treasure –  tireless, caring, honest and with unparalleled judgment. America is stronger, healthier and more just because of his service.”
