Despite Making Personal Choice a Center-Piece of His Pandemic Approach, Desantis Hypocritically Took the Opportunity to Belittle Students for Following Science and Wearing a Mask In-Doors
Tampa, FL – Today, Governor DeSantis visited the University of South Florida in Tampa, where he publically mocked and rebuked students for wearing masks at an indoor event. In response, Coronavirus War Room Florida Director Ashley Bauman released the following statement:
“Governor DeSantis has shown once again that he has absolutely no sense of decency, and no desire to steer Florida out of the pandemic. What DeSantis did mocking these children at a public event, for listening to science and wearing a mask, is morally repugnant and not befitting an adult, let alone the Governor. These are children who are doing their best to avoid catching COVID-19, and instead of letting them exercise their personal choice, DeSantis belittled them in public. Florida desires leadership that takes the pandemic seriously; not use their platform to berate children and spread dangerous misinformation.”
