STATEMENT ON NEW STANFORD UNIVERSITY STUDY SHOWING TRUMP RALLIES LED TO 30,000 CASES, 700 DEATHS

In response to the release of a Stanford University study showing that 18 of Donald Trump’s super-spreader rallies led to 30,000 cases and 700 deaths, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas released the following statement:

“This Stanford study shows the devastating toll that just 18 of Donald Trump’s super-spreader rallies have had, causing tens of thousands of infections and hundreds of deaths. Even more staggering than these numbers, however, is the selfishness and indifference required for Donald Trump to put his own political ego ahead of the health and safety of these communities.

“His actions make a mockery of the struggle of everyone in this country just trying to make it through this crisis – the doctors and nurses working to save people, the front-line workers keeping our society running, and the families desperately attempting to take care of each other.

“Since day one, Trump has made this crisis worse by downplaying the danger of the virus, undermining his own experts, and mocking mitigation efforts like masks and social distancing. But apparently that wasn’t enough and he felt the need to personally endanger the lives of thousands.

“Trump’s disdain for the lives of everyday Americans has been clear for a long time and it will be the only thing on voters minds when voting ends on Tuesday.”
