Ahead of the House vote on President Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan today, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas released the following statement:
“Let’s be clear: any Member of Congress voting against the American Rescue Plan today is voting against direct stimulus checks for American families. Period. End of story.
“There’s a reason this package is overwhelmingly popular with voters across the board, including majorities of Democrats, Independents, and Republicans.
“Every single provision within it is overwhelmingly popular – the aid to small businesses, unemployment insurance, funding to reopen schools, preventing essential workers from being laid off, and boosting vaccine distribution.
“But no part of this bill is more popular than direct checks.
“GOP lawmakers looking to play politics instead of doing the right – and overwhelmingly popular – thing is ultimately going to have to answer for voting against them.”
