In response to another week of historically high unemployment numbers, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas released the following statement:
“Every week there’s more confirmation that Donald Trump has abandoned Americans struggling to get through this pandemic. Whether he’s shrugging off the staggering 200,000 deaths or failing to come to the aid of the more than 62 million Americans who’ve struggled with joblessness during this pandemic, he always puts his personal politics ahead of the people he’s supposed to be serving.
“This is especially outrageous given that this is a crisis of Donald Trump’s making. From the first day of the pandemic, he has undermined his own experts, misled the American people by downplaying the virus and pushed states and schools to reopen before it’s safe to do so. Now, benefits are expiring, businesses are preparing for a tough winter ahead, and there’s no end in sight for families struggling to put food on the table.
“Yet still, Trump refuses to do the one thing that would actually help people and businesses – getting the virus under control. Until he does that, this economic collapse will continue to dog American families and they won’t forget that the pain they’re feeling is a direct result of Donald Trump’s failures.”
