STATEMENT: Trump’s Failed Leadership Responsible for 3 Million Coronavirus Cases

Per Johns Hopkins University, the United States has today reached three million confirmed coronavirus cases, the highest in the world. In response, Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas issued the following statement:

“Donald Trump’s mismanaged response to the coronavirus is the reason the US is the first nation in the world to reach the grim milestone of 3 million infections.

“Nothing he has done has made the crisis better. Only worse. He downplayed the virus when he should have ramped up testing. He rushed to reopen states when he should have listened to medical experts urging caution. He held large super spreader indoor rallies when he should have been encouraging his supporters to social distance and wear face masks.

“Now, Trump is making things worse by rushing schools to reopen and pulling the US out of the World Health Organization despite the fact that the death rates are going up in states across the country.

“It didn’t have to be this way — and the case numbers don’t need to continue going up at this alarming rate. However, that requires Trump to stop putting his political calculations ahead of the advice of medical experts and start taking the steps that other countries have done to get the virus under control.”
