In response to Donald Trump’s illegal super spreader campaign event in Henderson, Nevada tonight, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas released the following statement:
“Tonight’s potentially deadly super spreader event in Henderson, Nevada is yet another example of Donald Trump playing political games with people’s lives.
“Yesterday, local officials shut down Trump’s event, citing the danger to the community and dozens of broken ordinances designed to keep people safe. Instead of listening to the experts, Trump doubled down the very next day and placed even more people in danger.
“These super spreader stunts – which ignore all social distancing guidelines and lack widespread mask wearing – endanger everyone in the community, not just those who choose to attend. It’s a sickening attempt to undermine people’s health and safety for some shallow perceived political gain.
“This is especially disturbing given the audio proof that Trump knew how deadly and contagious the virus was in February and intentionally downplayed the threat to the American public. It’s outrageous that he’d knowingly continue to sacrifice more lives so that he can hold a reelection rally.”
