In response to Donald Trump’s super-spreader campaign event in Des Moines, Iowa tonight, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas released the following statement:
“Tonight’s deadly super-spreader rally in Iowa is just another example of Donald Trump’s shameful disregard for the health and safety of Iowans and all Americans.
“Less than two weeks after being hospitalized for COVID-19 himself, Trump remains hellbent on recklessly endangering communities already battling spikes of this deadly disease.
“Iowa remains in the midst of a serious outbreak of coronavirus, where hospitalizations have hit their highest level since the beginning of the pandemic, and even experts on the White House Coronavirus Task Force have urged gatherings in Des Moines be limited to less than 25 people and employ mitigation efforts like masks and social distancing. Trump’s super-spreader campaign rallies do none of that.
“The people of Iowa need a president who listens to the experts and prioritizes health. Instead, they got Trump, who’s willing to gamble with their lives if he thinks it will benefit his poll numbers.”
