Johnson’s Intent to Sabotage Bill Could Delay Direct Checks, Health Care Benefits to WI Families As More Than 13,000 Wisconsinites Filed for Unemployment Last Week
In response to Senator Ron Johnson’s (R-WI) use of procedural tricks to delay the passage of the American Rescue Plan, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas released the following statement:
“Ron Johnson is playing cruel tricks on Wisconsin families by holding up the American Rescue Plan that would fund $1,400 checks, faster vaccine distribution, affordable health care and school reopenings for Wisconsinites. With unemployment benefits expiring on March 14th, every moment Senator Johnson delays this vote hurts Wisconsin families and pushes the nation further into economic crisis.
“His actions are especially egregious given that the coronavirus crisis is still causing thousands of Wisconsinites to lose their jobs every week.
“If Senator Johnson had any care for the wellbeing of his constituents he would stop his political games and get this bill as quickly as possible to President Biden’s desk so that Wisconsinites can get the relief they desperately need.”
