In response to President Biden’s decision today to support waiving Intellectual Property protections on COVID-19 vaccines, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Spokesperson Michael Feldman issued the following statement:
“President Biden’s decision to waive IP protections on COVID-19 vaccines is a clear example of his promise to take necessary and bold action to defeat the pandemic.
“Waiving IP protections on COVID-19 vaccines will allow the United States to do what needs to be done to safely and quickly put an end to the pandemic. By taking this action President Biden will be able to significantly ramp up efforts to vaccinate all Americans, and allow for the rest of the world to rapidly expand vaccine manufacturing and distribution.
“Since day one of his administration, President Biden has demonstrated the moral clarity necessary to lead us out of this pandemic. His decision today is another example of his willingness to take action so that the U.S. and the world can put this crisis behind us.”
