In response to President Biden signing the American Rescue Plan one day ahead of schedule, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas released the following statement:
“With the historic American Rescue Plan signed into law today, President Biden did exactly what he promised he’d do: get direct relief to Americans and take bold action to defeat the coronavirus. Thanks to Congressional Democrats and President Biden, direct checks, money for vaccines, and continued unemployment insurance will soon be available for those that need it most.
“From funding for $1,400 checks, faster vaccine distribution, lower health care costs, faster school reopening, and help for small businesses to aid so state and local governments can avoid layoffs of essential workers — the American Rescue Plan has real and immediate impacts on people’s lives.
“From start to finish, President Biden and Congressional Democrats were determined to help American families while Republicans dragged down and obstructed the process at every turn. Americans won’t soon forget that it was Republicans who tried to stop them from getting the help they need and prevent us from bringing this deadly pandemic to an end.”
