Washington, DC – Today’s jobs numbers continue the strong streak of job gains thanks to the hard work of the Biden administration, with employers adding 678,000 jobs and the unemployment rate dropping to 3.8% in February. Employers have added at least 400,000 jobs every month since May 2021, the longest such streak on record. In response, Coronavirus War Room Director Nicole Haley issued the following statement:
“As we approach next week’s anniversary of the passage of the American Rescue Plan, it’s clear that President Biden’s economic agenda is working. The ARP delivered the tools people need to get back on track, from vaccine deployment to billions of dollars in emergency funding for state and local aid, to direct stimulus payments to American families, all without a single vote from a Republican in Congress. Thanks to efforts like the ARP, President Biden oversaw the greatest first year of job creation of any American president, and the latest jobs numbers show that his administration’s hard work is continuing to pay off.
Meanwhile, Republicans across the country fought against these common sense measures to get our economy back on track, all for their own political gain. They would sacrifice the health and economic well-being of their constituents and the country to score political points. Now it’s up to them to approve President Biden’s new request for funding for the National COVID-19 Preparedness Plan, so we can continue on the progress we’ve already made and Americans can be assured they are staying safe while moving towards normalcy.”
