Washington, DC – Today, President Biden called on Congress to include $22.5 billion for COVID-19 in a supplemental package for assistance to Ukraine. In response, Coronavirus War Room Director Nicole Haley said the following:
“We must not allow ourselves to be complacent in the fight against COVID-19 at home and abroad. Cases are rising around the country, and once again President Biden has called on Congress to provide additional funding. Republican sabotage and delay has already had severe consequences for Americans. Without these funds, we will be unable to purchase life-saving therapeutics, vaccines, and boosters. We will be unable to fund research into new variants and vaccines, leaving the world exposed to dangerous new surges. President Biden has made the case clear. Republicans chose to play politics with this vital funding, putting their own gain ahead of the health of their constituents. It’s up to them now to join with their Democratic colleagues and approve this funding as soon as possible to avoid needless death and suffering.”
