In response to the release of a detailed breakdown of the $160 billion requested in President Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas released the following statement:
“This crucial funding puts us on the path to rectifying the failures left behind by the former Trump administration and is a perfect example of why we can’t allow Republican senators to whittle it down to an ineffective nub.
“The money allocated in this plan is critical, from community vaccination clinics to shoring up manufacturing and supply chains to implementing a nation-wide testing strategy for the first time to boosting the emergency public health workforce.
“We should’ve seen this type of investment and planning months ago from the Trump Administration, which is why President Biden and his team are now forced to play catch up.
“That’s why it’s so imperative that Republicans get out of the way and end their partisan attempts to block this legislation. Otherwise, they will need to explain to the American people why they want our pandemic response to continue on such a disastrous trajectory. Families across the country, communities struggling to keep their people healthy, and frontline medical workers need help — and President Biden is dead set on delivering it.”
