In response to President Joe Biden revising the PPP loan program to focus on businesses with less than 20 employees for the next two weeks, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas released the following statement:
“Since his first day in office, President Joe Biden has given the American people what we’ve struggled to survive without for the better part of a year — a national pandemic response that places the needs of people first.
“By limiting applications for PPP loans to the smallest businesses and placing emphasis on ensuring minority-owned businesses are able to access funds, this White House is prioritizing those most impacted by this crisis.
“After months of abuse of this loan program under the former Trump Administration, it’s heartening to finally have a leader in the White House who’s concerned with more than warped political calculations and the bottom lines of wealthy donors. President Biden promised to focus on the health, safety, and financial security of everyday people in an effort to build back better, and this announcement is another step in making that a reality.”
