39 Seeing Coronavirus Hospitalizations Rising
As the United States barrels through the milestone of more than 8 million coronavirus infections since the pandemic began, things show no sign of improving. The country this weekend reported more than seventy thousand new infections in a single day, while 39 states are seeing coronavirus hospitalizations creep upward.
Things never had to be this bad. But Donald Trump regularly insisted on downplaying the pandemic and undercutting the experts — allowing the pandemic to spiral out of control.
Cases And Hospitalizations Are Spiking Rapidly and States Are Setting New Records
On October 16, The US Reported More Than Seventy Thousand New Cases In A Day For The First Time Since July 24.
- “More than 70,450 new coronavirus cases were reported in the United States on Friday, the highest figure since July 24, according to a New York Times database. More than 900 new deaths were recorded.” [New York Times, 10/17/20]
At Least 11 States Have Set Single-Day Case Records Over The Last 3 Days.

As Of October 16, Cases Were Increasing By 5 Percent Or More In 38 States.
