Washington, DC — Today, President Biden announced that all federal employees and contractors must provide proof of vaccination or submit to rigorous testing regimes. Months after making the vaccines widely available, President Biden continues to work to get shots in arms and end this pandemic. However, reckless rhetoric from Republicans is contributing to vaccine hesitancy and, as a result, the Delta variant is surging in parts of the country and more action is needed to keep Americans safe. In response, Protect Our Care Executive Director Brad Woodhouse released the following statement:
“Today’s announcement is another important step in the country’s fight against the pandemic and a testament to President Biden’s unwavering commitment to taking the necessary steps to keep Americans safe.
“From the moment President Biden took office, he has been honest with the American people, trusted the science and public health experts like Dr. Anthony Fauci and, now, he is taking swift action as the Delta variant surges. Today’s announcement is another welcome step to get the pandemic behind us. This action will save lives.
“Meanwhile, Republican officials’ refusal to encourage their own constituents to get vaccinated is irresponsible, dangerous, and it has to end. Their recklessness has directly contributed to the dangerous case spikes we’re seeing today. GOP leaders and the conservative media must do more to get their supporters and viewers to take the vaccine to protect themselves and their families before it’s too late.”
