Washington, D.C. — Today, on the 31st anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Biden administration released guidance ensuring that symptoms of “long COVID-19” can qualify as a disability under federal law. Additionally, the administration released additional resources for individuals suffering from long COVID-19, including guidance for schools to provide services for children who contract long-term symptoms of COVID-19. In response, Protect Our Care Executive Director Brad Woodhouse issued the following statement:
“Long COVID-19 is a serious condition affecting an untold number of Americans. While the scale of this problem is unlikely to be understood for years to come, it is clear that Americans with long COVID-19 need relief now. While Republicans are busy spreading misinformation and attacking public health experts, President Biden is helping Americans who need it most. Not only is President Biden working tirelessly to get shots in arms and to put an end to this pandemic, but today’s announcement demonstrates he is doing everything he can to support all Americans who are suffering as a result of this devastating disease.”
