In response to the latest weekly first-time jobless claims dropping to a pandemic-era low of 547,000, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Spokesperson Michael Feldman issued the following statement:
“Last week’s jobless numbers are a clear sign that President Biden’s American Rescue Plan is doing exactly what he intended it to do: getting Americans back on their feet and putting an end to this crisis.
“With President Biden’s decisive leadership to push forward the American Rescue Plan, Americans are finally getting badly needed investments to boost the economy back to pre-pandemic levels with direct stimulus checks, expanded unemployment insurance, state and local aid keeping essential workers like nurses, firefighters and EMTs on the job, assistance for families struggling to make rent and mortgage payments, and the funding for a national testing and vaccine distribution effort that will finally get this pandemic under control.
“From the moment he took office, President Biden has been determined to deliver for American families by getting shots in arms, money in pockets, and people back to work. As jobless numbers continue to sink under President Biden’s leadership, it’s clear that our economy is on a clear upward trajectory and we are closer than ever to defeating the pandemic.
