In response to executive actions President Joe Biden has taken today to address the coronavirus pandemic, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas released the following statement:
“Today, President Joe Biden took executive actions to begin the ‘National Strategy for the COVID-19 Response and Pandemic Preparedness.’
“For ten months, this country has been paying the price for failed leadership that made situations worse, not better. For over 400,000 Americans and their families, the price was their lives and for millions more it was their livelihoods.
“Now, the Biden administration is laying out the pandemic response we should’ve had since day one. These executive orders offer the strength and expertise of the federal government to ramp up production of PPE, sort out the vaccine distribution fiasco, expand testing and mitigation efforts, center racial equity in the ongoing response, help protect workers from getting sick in the workplace, and get accurate, timely information out to the American people so we can all help protect ourselves and others.
“To be sure, these executive orders aren’t enough to dig us out of the ditch Donald Trump has dug. The hole is just too deep. That’s why we need Congress to immediately pass Biden’s coronavirus relief package to boost the vaccine distribution system and increase testing. However, President Joe Biden’s actions today take up the mantle of leadership and finally put us on the difficult path to getting this crisis under control.”
