In response to the Senate GOP working to again blow up a compromise COVID relief deal, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas released the following statement:
“Once again Mitch McConnell and his obstructionist Senate GOP allies are endangering a compromise, urgently needed bipartisan COVID relief effort.
“The 11th hour push to secretly place handcuffs on the Federal Reserve’s ability to boost our economy and help small businesses survive in the middle of an economic crisis should be seen for what it is: a partisan political attempt to sabotage the incoming Biden Administration and – more importantly – the families who are barely getting by.
“When is enough going to be enough? The American people are suffering and struggling to survive the worst economic and public health crisis the country has faced in decades.
“People need stimulus checks to make ends meet; families need rent and mortgage assistance to stave off eviction; states and local communities desperately need funds to distribute the vaccine.
“It’s time for Mitch McConnell to stop trying to kneecap the incoming Biden Administration, to start thinking about people’s lives and livelihoods, and to do the right thing by passing robust COVID relief now.”
