In response to the United States surpassing 300,000 deaths, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas released the following statement:
“On the same day the first life-saving vaccines are administered, the United States crosses the crushing milestone of 300,000 deaths. It’s a grim reminder that we’re in the midst of the worst wave of this pandemic, which will continue to drag on for months.
“Every single one of these 300,000 deaths is a symbol of the Trump Administration’s failure to get the virus under control for nine long months. At every turn they’ve made matters worse.
“Even on his way out the door, Trump’s incompetence will leave a lasting impact. By turning down the opportunity to secure additional vaccine doses for 100 million Americans, the Trump Administration ensured these will not be the last needless deaths this country experiences. Ultimately, it will mean a delay to the end of this crisis that the American people can’t afford.
“Every loss to this virus has been a tragedy, made more painful by the fact so many losses were preventable. Today marks another dark milestone, even as the vaccine offers a glimpse at the light at the end of the tunnel.”
