In response to President-elect Joe Biden’s remarks on the economy and need for meaningful relief now, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas released the following statement:
“In his speech on the ongoing economic crisis and worsening pandemic today, President-elect Joe Biden offered the leadership that this country has so sorely lacked throughout this devastating crisis.
“He clearly understands that the American people can’t wait two more months for meaningful relief as the pandemic rages out of control, overwhelming hospitals and sending hundreds of thousands to the unemployment lines every week.
“However, instead of putting the country first and working to mitigate this crisis, it’s clear that the Trump White House and Mitch McConnell are doing everything in their power to undermine the incoming Biden Administration and make the crisis worse. From blocking Biden’s transition team to stopping economic relief, they are intentionally leaving the Biden Administration with a combined public health and economic disaster that rivals the Spanish Flu and the Great Recession.
“The time for political games is long over. For months, Trump, McConnell, and their allies have abandoned American families because they’d rather try to score political points than do their jobs. It’s beyond time for them to finally think about someone other than themselves and do what’s right for the American people by offering meaningful COVID relief.”
