In response to the news that President Donald Trump has tested positive for coronavirus, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas released the following statement:
“The world is waking up to shocking and solemn news today that President Donald Trump and the First Lady have tested positive for the coronavirus. We wish them a speedy recovery.
“Furthermore, we’d like to express our concern for all those who have been potentially exposed to this virus against their wills because of President Trump’s refusal to take basic precautions like wearing a mask and engaging in social distancing: Secret Service agents; Marines; White House political, career and support staffers; members of Congress who met with White House aides; personnel on Air Force One; reporters and support staff; the dozens of attendees at Tuesday’s debate; the dozens of attendees at his New Jersey fundraiser; and rally goers and officials in Minnesota.
“Since the beginning of this crisis, President Trump has downplayed the danger of the virus, undermined experts, flouted precautions like wearing masks and engaging in social distancing. He just mocked the wearing of masks and downplayed their importance at the debate with Vice President Biden on Tuesday possibly after he had already been exposed. Hopefully, this will signal the end of that kind of reckless behavior. This pandemic is not a hoax.”
