In response to House Democrats passing an updated version the HEROES Act relief bill and moving to assist American families for a second time, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas released the following statement:
“Today, House Democrats voted to provide $2.2 trillion in relief to American families, businesses, and communities.
“American families are still struggling with the fallout of this Trump-made crisis and are calling out for action. The updated HEROES Act is it – reinstating the $600 unemployment payments that were cut by Trump and Congressional Republicans in July, issuing another round of stimulus checks that Republicans have mocked, providing investment to address the child care and education challenges facing families, and offering comprehensive investment in the necessary infrastructure to combat the ongoing pandemic.
“Unfortunately, it appears that Senate Republicans will once again block this plan, proving one more time that Trump and his congressional allies have abandoned the American people during one of the greatest challenges our nation has faced in generations.”
