At today’s campaign stop in Yuma, Arizona, Donald Trump once again refused to address the catastrophic impacts of his failed pandemic response.
Trump shrugged off his failures the day after a heartbreaking speech from Kristin Urquiza at the Democratic National Convention, who told the story of her father dying from complications of COVID-19 in Arizona after believing the President’s lies downplaying the pandemic.
Her condemnation of Trump could not have been more clear, saying: “My father was a healthy 65 year old. His only preexisting condition was trusting the president. And for that, he paid with his life.”
In response, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas released the following statement:
“Donald Trump may ignore his failures on the campaign trail but too many families like Kristin Urquiza’s family – and the loved ones of 4,529 Arizonans – know the deadly reality of his botched pandemic response first-hand. They won’t forget it and neither will the rest of the country.
“Donald Trump is solely responsible for how bad this pandemic has gotten. At every turn, he undermines experts, lies about the danger, and repeatedly pushes to reopen states and schools before it is safe to do so. The results have been catastrophic.
“Whether he wants to admit it or not, Mark Anthony Urquiza and more than 170,000 other Americans have paid for his failures with their lives.”
