In response to reports that the Trump administration has formally withdrawn the US from the World Health Organization, Protect Our Care’s Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas issued the following statement:
“After downplaying the threat for weeks, ignoring WHO warnings in January and February, failing to secure enough PPE for medical workers, allowing the US to fall behind on testing and causing a massive spike in cases after rushing states to reopen, Donald Trump has somehow managed to find a way to make his response to the crisis even worse.
“Trump’s failed leadership is the reason the US is leading the world in confirmed coronavirus cases and deaths and by withdrawing from the World Health Organization, he is all but ensuring this crisis worsens and that more Americans die.”
