STATEMENT: Trump’s Coronavirus Failure Has Killed More Americans Than World War I
As of moments ago, 116,526 Americans have lost their lives due to coronavirus — more than were killed in all of World War I. In response, Coronavirus War Room Director Zac Petkanas issued the following statement:
“Trump’s failed coronavirus leadership reached a new grim milestone today: more Americans have now lost their lives due to COVID-19 than died during the entirety of World War I. This didn’t need to happen. By refusing to take the virus seriously, ignoring medical experts and downplaying the threat instead of taking decisive action, tens of thousands people unnecessarily lost their lives.
“Unfortunately, Trump hasn’t learned from his mistakes even as the economy dives deeper into a recession and infections and deaths continue to skyrocket across the country. Trump has all but given up on combating the virus, and in the past few weeks, spent more time planning his dangerous, crowded in-person rallies than developing a national testing strategy to allow the economy to reopen safely.
“Trump’s decision to double down on his failures instead of learning from his mistakes is only making the pandemic worse. At this rate, it will only be a matter of time before America hits yet another tragic milestone.”
