Washington, DC – Today, President Biden visited a clinic administering vaccines to children under the age of 5 and delivered remarks on the historic progress the country has made on fighting COVID-19 with safe and effective vaccines. In response, Coronavirus War Room Director Nicole Haley said the following:
“Thanks to President Biden’s leadership, nearly every American can now get vaccinated, and parents can protect their young children from this dangerous disease. However, Republicans are still determined to make this pandemic last as long as possible. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis continues to spread lies and misinformation about vaccines, scaring parents away from vaccinating their kids, all to boost his own political career and hurt President Biden. And Republicans in Congress continue to refuse to even consider approving additional funding so we don’t lose access to free vaccines, tests, and treatments for COVID-19.
“Republicans must set aside their political posturing and join with Democrats to approve additional funding in order to make sure we can stay protected from the worst effects of COVID-19 as we head into the fall and winter. If they continue to stonewall, they will be responsible for the rise in costs of treatments and, potentially, more illness.”
