While the Biden Administration is Working to Get Americans Back to Work, Republicans Are Prolonging the Pandemic and Harming the Economy
The latest weekly first-time jobless claims plunged to another record low of 184,000, with numbers not seen in over 50 years. In response, Protect Our Care Executive Director Brad Woodhouse issued the following statement:
“Another week of declining jobless claims means President Biden’s policies to boost the economy are working. Earlier this year, Democrats passed the American Rescue Plan, which delivered direct stimulus checks, housing assistance and monthly child tax credit payments to families, billions in state and local aid to keep essential workers on the job, and robust funding for vaccine distribution. The result of Democrats’ bold action is clear: week after week of strong job growth.
“Republicans have done everything in their power to slow this historic economic recovery and make the pandemic worse — all for political gain. Republican governors, members of Congress, and attorneys general are still pushing misinformation, attacking masks and other safety measures, and even going to court to stop vaccine mandates.Thankfully, Democrats in Congress and President Biden are unwavering in their promise to deliver for the American people and put an end to this crisis.”
