Fox News Reaches New Low By Airing Commentary Comparing Efforts to Keep Americans Safe With Nazi Experiments
Washington, D.C. — Yesterday, Fox News’s Lara Logan compared Dr. Anthony Fauci to Josef Mengele, the Nazi doctor known as the “Angel of Death” for performing medical experiments at Auschwitz. In response, Protect Our Care Executive Director Brad Woodhouse released the following statement:
“This despicable display is the logical extension of former President Trump and Republicans playing politics with the pandemic, fueling vaccine hesitancy, and casting doubt on the very measures that will save people’s lives. Lara Logan’s comments were not made on some fringe, far-right blog, but on one of the top cable networks in the nation, displaying how far into the anti-science narrative Republicans have gone. It’s unconscionable that as we face new threats, Republicans double down on dividing America and making us less safe. By continuing to attack scientists who are working hard to put an end to this pandemic, it’s clear that Republicans will do anything to prolong the suffering caused by COVID-19 for nothing more than pure politics.”
Reactions from the Anti-Defamation League, Auschwitz Memorial and American Jewish Committee:
Jonathan Grenblatt, Head Of The Anti-Demation League: “There’s Absolutely No Camparison Between Mask Mandates, Vaccine Requirements, And Other Covid-19 Mitigation Efforts To What Happened To Jews During The Holocaust.” “Jonathan Greenblatt, the head of the Anti-Defamation League, said in a statement that ‘there’s absolutely no comparison between mask mandates, vaccine requirements, and other COVID-19 mitigation efforts to what happened to Jews during the Holocaust.’ ‘This includes making outlandish and offensive analogies suggesting that somehow Dr. Anthony Fauci is akin to Nazi war criminal Josef Mengele, known for his gruesome medical experiments on concentration camp prisoners,’ Greenblatt said.” [CNN, 11/30/21]
