Noem Joins a Growing List of Republicans whose Conspiracy Theories and Anti Vaccine Rhetoric is Contributing to Vaccine Hesitancy and Covid Case Spikes
This weekend, in a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference, South Dakota’s Republican Governor Kristi Noem bragged about her disastrous leadership during the coronavirus pandemic that led to the state ranking among the highest rates of cases and deaths nationwide. In response, Protect Our Care Executive Director Brad Woodhouse issued the following statement:
“Out of all of the failures by Republican leaders during the height of the pandemic, Governor Noem’s may be the most egregious. South Dakota needlessly suffered some of the highest caseloads and death rates in the country because Noem resisted commonsense measures to slow the spread of the virus. Now, with her eyes on 2024, Noem is bragging about her approach. This kind of rhetoric, which Noem isn’t alone among Republicans in espousing, is contributing to Republican voters refusing to be vaccinated and the subsequent spikes in cases that we’re seeing across the country. Governor Noem’s boasting has already been devastating for South Dakotans and will continue to endanger Americans.”
